Responsibilities

Summary:

The Spice Worker weighs, measures and prepares ingredients according to batch schedules and stages ingredients to be used for further processing by performing the following duties:

 

Essential Functions:

  •  Checks/verifies materials and amounts to be weighed per batch formula.
  • Scoops or pours ingredients into measuring device for hand weighed ingredients.
  • Weighs ingredients accurately following standard procedures to ensure allergens are controlled while using personal protective equipment (gloves, apron, glasses, dust mask, etc.), if required.
  • Verifies weights of ingredients are accurate and containers are labeled then places pre-weighed ingredients onto the designated cart.
  • Fills hoppers of automated system with correct ingredients using vacuum assist for lifting bags.
  • Operates electronic controls for automated weighing system.
  • Troubleshoots automated weighing system when issues arise.
  • Will be cross trained in at least one other area to remain productive during low volume periods.
  • Reviews workspace for cleanliness and safety concerns.
  • Uses personal protective gear PPE per company standards  to ensure safe operation of machinery or tools, and safe use of chemical cleaning agents.
  • Disassembles and reassembles equipment as necessary for cleaning.
  • Cleans and Sanitizes production equipment, tools and work area per Standard Sanitation Operating Procedure (SSOP).

Travel/On-Call Requirements: not required for this position

 

Preferred Education & Experiences:

  • Three to six months food manufacturing experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Ability to use weighing and measuring devices with accurate results
  • Ability to interpret simple written instructions and follow established procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with coworkers.

 

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet, humid and moving mechanical parts

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. May be required to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food ingredients.

 

Work Ability Requirements:

Employees regularly bend or lean at waist level. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or grasp ingredients and work tools and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel and crouch

The employee lifts and/or carries  objects up to 5 lbs regularly and up to 40 lbs occasionally.

Pay Range

USD $22.14 - USD $26.05 /Hr.
